Litetec Ltd have released their new industrial rigid endoscope for general sale. The scope, which has received alot of interest and countless pre-orders, is ideal for industries such as cavity wall inspection and the automobile industry.

Litetec’s last endoscope- the Portascope- sold well for over 9 years, however they noticed customers asking if a smaller diameter version was available. So they designed one. The new scope- the Portascope MK2′ is only 9.6mm in diameter, compared to the latter version of 12mm diameter. The new scope comes in a foam lined case as before, however with the added benefit of a scope saver as standard in a kit. This helps protect the scope from dirt and debris, and before was a additional item.

The battery pack on the new endoscope is also much smaller, at 150x70cm and enables easier charging with a automatic light.

This scope is available to purchase online at http://www.lite-tec.co.uk/rigidendoscope.htm

Specification sheets and further details can be issued, please contact litetec on 01702 540187 or email info@litetec.co.uk

Metal Coated Fibres

Litetec have updated their website to include information on our range of metal coated fibres. These fibres use pure metals of copper, aluminium and gold to give higher temperature use, better hermeticity and higher strength than polymer fibres.

Our metal coated fibres can withstand temperatures up to 500oc for long periods of time or 700oc for shorter periods of time. This fibre makes for a good comparison with gold coated fibres, but at a fraction of the cost.

This fibre can also be produced in much longer lengths (up to 1km) and come in a variety of fibre types including single mode, graded index and step index large core fibres in UV and IR grades of silica.

Further information on these types of metal coated fibre can be found here; http://www.lite-tec.co.uk/metalcoatedfibre.html

The ‘Portascope MK2’ manufactured by litetec is a low cost endoscope ideal for inspection and illumination of inaccessible areas. With a diameter of only 9.6mm, the scope is a welcome addition to the building surveyors’ industry for cavity wall inspection.
After over 20 years success with their original robust rigid endoscope the ‘Portascope’, Litetec have once again used their expertise in optics and fibre optics to create the ‘Portascope MK2.’ Paul Wale, MD of litetec, says

“After the success of our 12.7mm diameter ‘Portascope’, we listened to the changing needs of our customers and realised there was a gap in the market for a low cost, robust scope with a smaller diameter…The response so far has been great.”

With such a smaller diameter the end user is able to access difficult to reach areas without having to drill a large hole through the wall or ceiling, making it easier, quicker and less destructive to complete the job
The complete kit also includes our scope saver as standard. This helps protect the outer tube from debris and keeps the unit clean. The scope is supplied in a foam lined case, with a spare lamp and small rechargeable battery pack.
This endoscope is produced at Litetec’s Essex branch to the highest quality ISO:9001 standards.
Those interested in following the developments of litetec’s new scope can follow the official blog at http://litetec.blogspot.com/ or log onto http://www.litetec.co.uk under endoscopes to view our range and purchase online.

The core benefits of fibre optics are;

Virtually no heat

Fibre optic cables only transmit light, the cables and fixtures do not generate heat. This makes it ideal for applications where electricity or heat is a concern such as wine racks, in or around water, chilled food cabinets or display cases.

No UV/IR light

Its a safe light that won’t damage or degrade sensitive items. Therefore its useful in museum cabinets where you need light but can’t risk damaging the display.

Maintenance Free

Compared to LED systems, if one bulb goes the display of light looks broken and is often difficult and costly to be repaired. With fibre optics, no maintenance is required, if the light stops working, which is not very often, the bulb in the lightsource simply needs replacing. This will cost approx £

Reduced Energy Cost

Fibre optics have fewer watts per square foot compared with conventional lighting. Most one off products can be lit with just a 50W lightsource, which is very bright. The maximum lightsource is 250W.

No Electrical Current

There is no electrical current in the fibre optic cable, making them safe to use in wet environments, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools.

Less expensive and easier to install

Compared to conventional lighting, where you have to run conduit or wiring, fibre optics only require minimal installation. Normally only drilling of holes or fixing the cable in place, then choosing an appropraite place for the lightsource.

Easily Accessible

The lightsource is mounted in a convenient location, enabling easy change of lamps if required.

Vast Colour and Effects

A rotating colour wheel in a fibre optic system can easily change the colour of the light. On our lightsources we have a remote control that allows the user to “pause on colour.” The lightsources are fitted with a dichroic filter wheel and heat filter to prevent burn out or colour fade. As well as colour wheels you can also have twinkle wheels and waterfall effect wheels. If you required just white light, this is simple to achieve. Therefore, fibre optics allow for vast changes in colour and effects, easily changing the colour to suit the mood or for an update.

Welcome to litetec ltd’s wordpress blog! We are UK manufacturers of fibre optic lighting for scientific, decorative and sensory applications.

We also use our experience in the optics field to produce endoscopes and have a range of rigid, flexible and video endoscopes starting at only £499.00. Many of these have been selling for over 10 years, so we know they do their job properly! We also offer repair services on our rigid endocope sales, the adapately named “Portascope” and our flexible- “Portascope Flexi Plus”.

Back to fibres…we have two bases in the UK, a head office in Essex, and a Fibre Optic Division in Doncaster- where all the manufacturing takes place. There we can terminate harnesses, grind and polish them with special machinery and produce products such as fibre optic chandeliers and star carpets. We also provide polymer and glass fibre and produce scientific lightguides, in various materials. We have regular customers who purchase lightguides from us on call-off orders.

Recently, we have produced a range of sensory fibre optics for the sensory market (funnily enough!) These were priced very competitively, and include our sparkle sensory harnesses, rope light, fibre optic carpets and our brand new fiesta panels. These panels are produced in our base in Doncaster, and incorporate over 3,000 colour changing fibre optics arranged in rossette like patterns. When the panel is wall mounted it creates a lovely memorizing effect in sensory rooms and has also been sold to VIP areas of bars and clubs- one in Oxford if you fancy taking a peek.

Being manufacturers of fibre optics we offer quick OEM production, at competitive pricing. We have trade price lists for our sensory range, which can be viewed online at our sister site; www.sensorylighting.com

Our fibre optic chandeliers are proving a popular item, and can be made to your specification. These are rapidly becoming a trendy item in bars/clubs and hotel lobbys, and add that touch of “wow” and splendor to a premises. Please view our page for some chandelier ideas; www.litetec.co.uk/chandeliers.htm These come with crystal end fittings, which harness the light.

You can get a better idea of our vast capabilities at www.litetec.co.uk Having been established since 1985 and awarded with ISO:9001 we are committed to good quality products and a happy and “can-do” attitude!

Please contact us on either 01702 540187 or 01302 338210 for a discussion of your lighting needs.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy the blog and videos on our website.
